Travelling to Dubai? Things you need to know....

Summer holiday is here again!!!!! Few days ago, I met someone who wants to travel to Dubai but was misinformed. He said he was told they don't speak English. I was amazed at this information, so I have decided to write about it.
Dubai is the most visited country by Nigerians after London, this is due to the ease of getting a Dubai visa.Dubai is a beautiful country for both business and leisure. Of recent it has been the favorite place for Destination Weddings by celebrities. Eg Tu Face and Tiwa Savage.

Things you need to do before going to Dubai

1. Visa: Dubai offers different types of visas- Tourist, Business and Work permits. But for holidays, you need to process a tourist visa which is for 13 days. All you are required to do is send a scanned copy of your passport data page and passport on white background. Please note you cant settle in Dubai with a tourist visa. Their rules are strict and if you do, you will be declared wanted and blacklisted.

2.Flight Ticket: Purchase your return flight ticket before your travel date. Emirate is the only direct flight to Dubai from Lagos. However, Emirate just introduced their Abuja- Dubai route. Other airlines are Qatar, Ethiad, Ethiopia Airline etc.

3.Hotel Reservation: Book your hotel reservation before travelling, it is cheaper and less stress. For a family, a hotel apartment may be a good choice.

4.Places to visit: For budget travelers or business people, you can stay in Deira. Deira is where the Gold souk and Spice souk are. The market is around there, for those who want to shop from there.Beware of guys who claim to be cargo agents, make sure you deal with a trusted person.( Speaking from experience) To move around taxis are available round the clock or you can use the metro which is cheaper.

5. Weather: Dubai winter period starts from November to March, which is the preferred time to travel.

6. Ramadan Period: During Ramadan, no one is allowed to eat, drink or smoke in public during fasting period.  Weekend starts from Friday in Dubai.

7.Malls to visit: Mall of Emirates, Dubai Mall, Dubai Marina Mall, Outlet Malls etc.

8. Tours: Desert Safari, Burj Khalifa visit, Abu Dhabi Tour, Wild Wadi,Atlantis combo, Dhow Cruise, Ski Dubai etc.

9. Though Dubai is an Arabic speaking country, everyone speaks ENGLISH.

Dubai is definitely a place to visit. For more details on Tour packages, Visas, Return Tickets, Airport Pickup and Drop off etc.
