10 Ways to hang a Mirror

A mirror can make a space appear bigger, brighter and more beautiful. Not to forget, for you to also admire yourself. Mirror! Mirror!! On the wall, who is the fairest of them all. You know who ( WINK)
How you hang your mirror determines the ambiance you create in a space.

Please note not all mirrors are meant to be hung, some are to be tilted on the wall.
Don’t hang mirrors on a nail with the hook or wire at the back of the mirror, may not balance well.
Hang mirrors with a downward tilt so as to reflect the room.


Here is how to hang a mirror in the right way.
  • Mirrors are beautiful when hung above a mantel piece, it should be placed 4 to 5 inches above the mantel piece and can be higher if the frames are thicker.

  • I n the bathroom, mirrors can be hung above a bathroom sink.  A frame less mirror can be used but framed mirrors are more elegant.

  • Before hanging mirrors use a drilling machine to drill the holes where the mirror will be hung on.
  • Mirrors can be hung on the door, if it is a full length mirror, but ensure the door is sturdy.
  •  If your living room is facing south, hang the mirror on the wall opposite the window, so as to create a cozy feel and take advantage of the afternoon sunshine.
  • The dining area is a perfect place to hang beautiful mirrors, let the mirror be hung opposite the chandelier to create a great ambiance but be careful not to use chandeliers with exposed bulbs as this will reflect light.

  • An entry way is a perfect place to hang a mirror as it makes a space look larger and brighter.

  • Use vertical mirrors in tall rooms and horizontal mirrors in long rooms.


  • Never hang a mirror above your bed, very risky and if you have to get a professional.

  • Multiple mirrors can be hung but should be decorative and smaller sizes.
