The Interior Design Excellence Awards( IDEA) is a professional architecture/interior design award that aims to provide a world class platform to recognize and honor outstanding architects and designers in the industry. IDEA recognizes design projects, acknowledges design excellence, encourages innovative ideas and techniques within the industry and showcases architects and designers that represent excellence in the profession.

WE KEEP ABREAST OF THE ISSUES FACING
NIGERIA AND SPEAK OUT IN SUPPORT OF
A HIGH QUALITY BUILT ENVIRONMENT.
In 2012 for example, the conference was chaired by the Vice President of Nigeria represented by the minister of Housing and the theme was “Architecture and Interior Design in Nation building”. A special feature of the IDEA 2012 conference and awards was the IFI declaration. The declaration, which explores the value relevance, responsibility, culture, business knowledge and identity of Interior Design / Architecture, was adopted by the President of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Design; Shashi Caan and the executive board of IFI.
The IDEA website received, on average 8350 unique visitors
and 3,962 page views each month, last year it tops Google rankings for Nigerian
Architecture and is linked to dedicated accounts for Twitter and Facebook, along with an IFI website content
distributor.
Our email digest is received by 750 subscribers, with a
higher than average percentage of ‘opens’ at approximately 45 percent. The digest provides valuable Industry
insights and attracts a strong advertising base.

About Mario Cucinella
Mario Cucinella is an italian architect and designer . In 2009, the first Italian architect for 30
years now to win a prize Marché International des Professionals d'Immobilier (MIPIM)
in the category green building with the Centre for Sustainable Energy Technologies Two years later, in 2011 he won the
prestigious award again in the same category with the Italian headquarters of
3M .He graduated in Genoa with Giancarlo De Carlo in 1987. From 1987 to 1992 he
worked in the studio of architect Renzo Piano in Genoa and Paris , as a project
manager. In 1992 he founded Mario Cucinella Architects (MCA) in Paris and in
1999 in Bologna . From 1998 to 2006 he was professor at the Laboratory of
Technology of Architecture of the Faculty of Architecture of Ferrara . Since
2004 he is a visiting professor at the ' University of Nottingham .
Since 2009 he has been the coordinator of the Master in
Sustainable Architecture at IED Turin . He is particularly interested in the
issues related to environmental design and sustainability in architecture .
Dedicated to the research and development of products of industrial design .
Among his outstanding achievements are the SIEEB
Sino-Italian Ecological Building in Peking, the CSET Centre for Sustainable
Energy Technologies in the University of Nottingham campus in Ningbo, China,
the new seat of the Municipality of Bologna , the Centre for Sustainable Energy
Technologies (CSET) of Ningbo and the station Villejuif - Léo Lagrange in the
Paris Metro . The new Civic Offices in Bologna, the new headquarters for 3M
Italia in Milan, the new building for ARPA - Regional Agency for the
Environment – in Ferrara, the mixed-use building Santander – the first Cened
certified Class A building in the area – in Milan and the research project for
the 100K € Home.
As well as his architectural design activities, Mario
Cucinella also devotes himself to the research and development of industrial
design products and to teaching: he holds the position of visiting Professor at
Nottingham University and, until last year, taught Architectural Technology at
the Faculty of Architecture in Ferrara. He also regularly gives lectures, in
Italy and abroad.
Among his prizes, the Mipim Green Building Award 2009
(Cannes, France), the Architectural Review Future Projects Award 2009 (Cannes,
France), the International Architecture Award (USA 2007) from the Chicago
Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, the Energy
Performance+Architecture Award (Paris, 2005) and the Special Award for the
Environment at the Cityscape World Architecture Congress (Dubai, 2005), the
Outstanding Architect Prize 2004 from the World Renewable Energy Congress
(Denver, USA) and the 1999 Architecture Prize from the Berlin Akademie der
Kunste.
