What is your style?

Interior Design has so many design styles. When it comes to interior design styles, allow yourself to think outside the box. There are so many creative ways to define who you are by creating a magnificent living space. Allow yourself to be creative. Be stylish. And when I say outside the box, I don't necessarily mean go crazy, I simply suggest you take some steps to create the type of home that you really want or that your client is asking you to create.

Most people tend to play safe and think that good design is primarily about matching up colors and tones.  However, one needs to be creative and not be afraid to give up the good for the great.
Get inspiration from places that you've been, styles that you've seen in either magazines, internet or on TV and try them out in your home with confidence.

Interior design styles are essentially about building a space to create a mood.  If you change nothing, nothing will change so create the designs you want.  BE CREATIVE
With any design style, you run the risk of your home looking over themed instead of tasteful and interesting. Take elements of your preferred style and develop your design so that you avoid over doing it. Too much of a good thing can be quite literally 'TOO MUCH'.

To redesign a space, start with taking a good look around your home, take it all in and decide what it is that you would really love to change and then set about building your redesign. Put your energy into looking at all sorts of interior design styles and then making a decision.

For example, If you love art decor then you would usually find art decor objects already in your home and those objects would be your starting point of inspiration. Having some knowledge of interior design styles will help you progress.

Perhaps your preferred interior design styles are more eclectic and would go for a look that may have a mix of Italian interior design, vintage and minimalist design. The answer to that is good... great, BUT do it well and create a slick, functional home that looks amazing making sure it's not just a blend of crazy.

It is important to remember that you are worth it, so apply inspiration and motivation into your HOME. You may design your home around contemporary interior design but decide that you would like your living room to match the concept of Traditional interior design. This would create an old meets new space so just prepare well in order to have your ideas look awesome.
I  create spaces mixing different interior design styles together and you can do it too. Bring your influences and ideas together and have fun designing your home.  Make each of your selections work well so that you enjoy living in your creations.

Below is a list of three interior design styles which I have put together although there are lots of Interior design styles. Understanding what each conceptual idea represents should help you make some of your all important design decisions, to achieve that look within your own home.

Styles in Interior Design

1. Contemporary Style: This style relates to what is current which is reflected in the design. It works with most if not all interior design styles. Less is more and places emphasis on line and form. It creates an open, airy and expensive space. Colors are mostly neutrals creams, beige, white. Simple and few accessories are used.

2. Traditional Style: It is a more relaxed environment, creates room for conversation. Furniture don't have to match, no shape edges, lots of throw pillows, conservative colors ie cream, beige, tan, blue, pretty patterns.

3. Eclectic: This style matches all concept, doesn't follow a rule but must be an intentional arrangement. It shows ones confidence in design. Furniture don't match, one piece should tie up all the colors together ie throw pillow or art.

Please let's discuss your style.
