Things to do before going on Vacation.

Planning a vacation can be hectic from flight tickets, hotel reservations, shopping and packing , but most importantly we need to make sure the home is sorted before going on our vacation. Here, is a check list of things to do before embarking on your holiday, so your home is safe and sound while you are away, so that you can relax and enjoy your vacation.

1. Inform your neighbors you will be away on vacation, so they can help keep an eye on the house. Also drop your keys with trusted friends or family just in case there is a need to access the house. You can ask neighbors to help with your mails too.

2.Tidy your Kitchen: Clean the kitchen by disposing of food that will spoil, get rid of leftovers and take out the bin. Clean out the fridge, clear out dishes in the sink and the sink should be cleaned out. So it doesn't smell when you are away.

3.Clean the bathroom: Make sure the bathrooms are clean and sprinkle baking soda in toilets and down the sink drains to reduce smell from dripping water.

4.Leave the curtains and blinds down as you usual would but ensure all windows and doors are locked.Place all valuables in a locked safe.

5. Pay your bills: Pay all your bills that will be due while you are away, especially if you will be away for weeks.

6. Make sure all taps are tightly closed and no water is dripping. Shut off water connections to washing machines. Ensure all lights and appliances are turned off and unplug all electronics just in case of power surge.

7.Finally clean the whole house, it is welcoming feeling coming back to a tidy home, even if there is dust will be easier to clean and makes unpacking easy.
